The North East has plenty to offer when it comes to wineries and gourmet food. Harrietville is a great base to explore the region and the gourmet food and wine trails. You can start in the Ovens valley, move your way through to the Kiewa valley and on to Rutherglen or Milawa, giving you a diverse range of wineries and gourmet food to choose from!

On Harrietville's door step, you have the Mountain Fresh Trout and Salmon farm, why not try the trout pate - it is divine! Next you have the Gunadoo Berry Farm located in Smoko which is right next door to The Big Shed Fruit & vegetable store. Keep going and you can stop at  the Bright Brewery for a locally brewed beer, then onto the Deer and Emu farm, to taste a bit of game meat. You can continue on to Milawa, and indulge in some cheese, olives, bread and wine - yum!
